During my time in my Textile Minor, I developed a fascination with the world of weaving. All woven on an 8 heddle loom, these swatches showcase a series of explorations of pattern, texture, colour, and materials
While this art form is technical in many ways, it is also very fluid. There are so many ways the final result can end up being with just a simple change in a warp or weft.
Some of my experiments showcase this fluidity by using the same warp pattern but switch out for unconventional materials such as wire, plastic bags, or even different coloured yarn with a new weft pattern. Through this, you can see its many different and exciting outcomes.
With guidance from the experimental swatches, this Deflected Double Weave is the culmination of my weaving studies encapsulated into a final project.
