TRANSNODAL is an interactive lighting system that explores the intersection of materiality, light and sculptural form.
What was once used as a means for industrial packaging and transportation, transforms with a more playful and unconventional approach. Highlighting the malleable and transparent qualities of plastic strapping, TRANSNODAL bounds together through a series of free-formed overlapping pathways, welded at each node. The diffused light emerging from a weighted metal base travels upward and into the translucent network; its properties capturing the glow within. Connecting it all together, the sculpture sits on a central axis with one perforated node at a time gently balancing on a faceted point.
This mounting system is intentionally variable as the sculptural element can be lifted and repositioned onto any node, with each new point of contact revealing a fundamentally different orientation, and silhouette. The work invites the viewer to become a participant, recomposing the piece and discovering that no single perspective is finite.
